We used to live in a rural area and still do we felt safe because it was the country and you knew who your neighbors were.
Everyone knows everyone in the country, but these days things have changed, people started showing up trying to sell stuff, like meat that looked like grey cardboard, they would just drive right in, because we did not have a gate. Then we started noticing in the local newspaper that home burglaries were up by 200 percent. We noticed strange cars in the neighborhood, driving slowing by our house, I am sure they noticed we did not have a gate.
So we started looking at our security situation, it only made sense as more reports were coming in about robberies.
It was really a little scary, mostly because things are getting a little scary out there, so we looked at getting a gate, and setting it up, the really good thing about living in the country is a good neighbor, someone that will be there if you happen to need some help, so a helpful neighbor helped us get our new gate installed.
It was a job but after it was installed, it worked perfectly, and has been for a long time.
If it were to stop working in the morning I would go out and buy another one just like this one.

Get as big an opener as you can afford, we used a 4 x 4 heavy duty post, and no one has bothered us since that time, cars still go by a little slow but they see the gates and they see the signs that say no trespassing.
Security is a good thing and I have seen a lot of our neighbors installing gates too, its sort of sad in a way to see our lives change in this way but I sleep a lot better at night knowing that there is one more safeguard between us and the world.
