The first thing in designing a garden is the selection of the best place for your garden.
Full sunshine is the best choice however if you do not have a choice try to find the most sunlight that you can, you can also grow many different kinds of veggies in small areas, you may have seen the advertisements on TV showing the upside down tomatoes plants, sadly most of the time it just does not work out well, simply because you must have direct sunlight at least six hours out of the day.
One of the most common mistakes is trying to grow plants that need more room than you have to grow. You can easily grow herbs in small containers, so if you have less space you can use a deep pot, to grow tomatoes. Tomatoes need deep pots to better support the root system, the deeper you can provide support to a root system the better fruit you will get in return for your efforts. You can grow a garden any time of year, even in the winter.
Developing the best place to grow is usually a matter of finding the best sunlight.
If you find that you need to move your plants around you can do that, its really all about heat, water, and the right amount of care.
